January 2025: A look toward Youth, Education and More!

Hello to the Be Blac Foundation Community and Happy New Year!

A few months ago, I briefly shared that our organization would be expanding its focus within our Youth/Education Impact Pillar. Today, I’d like to provide more details.

In the fall of 2024, our organization was one of 21 recipients of the African American Black Student Success Grant, awarded by the Oregon Department of Education! This multi-year grant will be used to develop data, initiatives, and specific benchmarks that align with the statewide education plan for African American/Black students, from early childhood through post-secondary education programs.

With that in mind, the Be BLAC Foundation’s goal is to serve as a facilitator and steward for organizations currently engaged in this vital work within Salem-Keizer Public Schools. We are now entering the implementation phase of the grant and will continue to collaborate with organizations and potential partners to ensure its success for our community.

As we move forward, we are seeking a qualified Contracted Program Director to lead the delivery of our grant initiatives. You can find the full job listing below. Additionally, we are collecting contact information from individuals interested in serving as Tutors or Mentors, who will partner with program organizations to walk alongside youth. If this opportunity interests you, please fill out the Tutor/Mentor Form linked below.

As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work.” This collective effort is only possible with the support of people like you. Together, we can continue to strengthen our community.
